We love the Mayborn Museum on Baylor University's campus in Waco. It is so worth the hour long drive because there is so much to do and see there. Both of my boys have a blast. Their favorite room by far is the one with about 10 cozy coupes to drive around. They can pretend to fill up their gas tanks, stop for groceries and even drop some letters in a drive up mailbox. In the same room there is a house with a kitchen and a vegetable garden to plant and reap. Too fun.

The museum also houses some small animals and fish, a TV room where you can do the weather, a room with a lot of different modes of communication including a bunch of typewriters and telephones. On the second floor you can explore the tea room, the wild west pioneer home, an Indian teepee, and you can make your own mix of music in a studio sound room. There is also a room of pulleys and levers and a room with water boats. The kids really enjoy dressing up in the around the world room that also has some percussion instruments. There is a big train and a room to go read and color and you can just spend so much time there hands on and it's amazing.

Both of my kids feel free to explore and I feel happy to let them knowing that things are kid friendly and that it is encouraged for them to do these things on their own.
