The Paper Mama Challenge: Friends

Or in this case, cousins. This is my oldest son, Ian (love the goose egg on his forehead!) and his younger cousin, Ezra. They really enjoy each other's company and are great friends.

Today I decided to play with my 85mm f/1.8 lens. I also thought that I would play with some textures. A little more artsy than I usually do, but the bokeh was so lovely with the 85mm that I just had to. I need to hone my skills with that lens. It takes a bit more patience to take the shot, but the outcomes are quite lovely.

Can I get a FINALLY! I finally got that elusive photo of both of my boys together actually smiling and looking at the camera! I think it might be a Jan 20th miracle!

Shoot and Edit: Week 2

This morning I am linking up with Ashley Sisk for week 2 of Shoot and Edit. You can see my original SOOC shot at the top and my first edit below. I adjusted my white balance by taking the eye dropper and touching on the right side of my photograph. That brightened up the image quite a bit. I adjusted my midtones a touch and also my black. To me this gave a nice crisp image so I left it at that.










For this second edit, I ran a high pass filter/soft light and bumped the opacity down to 80%. I then added a Solid color layer in a warm yellow brown on soft ligth and bumped the opacity down. I then ran My Four Hens Warm Rain Action and then added Kim Klassen's Warm Vintage texture. It was just a touch too yellow for me then so I added a soft white color layer on soft light and turned the opacity down to 50%.

Long day for me and the dog! This is my going on 15 year old Jack Russell terrorist, er I mean terrier. Her name is Izzabelle, aka Izzy. She's quite grumpy in her old age and gets very annoyed with my boys. She was none too pleased that I disturbed her when I went to take her picture. But she's quite energetic in her geriatric state and still runs and dances and gets the berzerks from time to time. I see that she is slowing down though and it makes me sad. I love my Izzy girl. She's the only thing that helps to balance out all the testosterone here!

Little Brothers can be such a pain! I should know! I've had one for the past 34 years. Happy Birthday to my little brother! And thanks to this set of brothers for being such great models! LOL! (This is not staged. Definitely one of those funny candid moments!)
