Can't Believe My Baby is 5

Ian turned 5 on November 6th so this post is a little belated, but I wanted to take his photos myself instead of dealing with a studio and had to wait until the weather was right and I had the time. So tonight after school we set off to the park to take his photos. He was fairly cooperative, but his little brother was a pistol. I was trying to capture a good one of the two of them, too. I got an okay shot, but nothing to write home about.

Anyway, back to Ian. I can't believe he's 5. 5 just sounds so old compared to 4. I know, I know. That sounds ridiculous, but 5 definitely doesn't give you thoughts of a baby at all. He's so independent now. He can read all the level one readers and can figure out so many things on his own now. He's got a wonderful rote memory and has excelled in school. He does really well behavior wise at school, too. I'm so proud of him. It's hard to believe that he came into this world a whole month early weighing only 5 pounds 4 ounces and never went to NICU. He's always been advanced. LOL. :) All kidding aside, this kid amazes me every day and I thank God for the opportunity to be his mother.

Happy Belated Birthday, Ian! I love you!

Simplicity Photo Challenge: Fall

We live in Texas so playing in fall leaves isn't a possibility here. We just don't have the beautiful foliage so we improvised with some fake leaves, but the kids really loved it! Their faces just lit up to be buried in the leaves!

Spongebob Halloween

This week has blown by. My birthday was on Thursday. Just another day... Aaron has been sick. Poor little dude has had respiratory problems again. Croupy cough, etc. UGH. So out came the nebs again and the steroids. So we missed a Halloween party on Friday and I was really hoping he'd be well enough for Trick or Treat tonight but no such luck. So we put on our costumes for a little photo, but never really got a good one. Oh well. You get the idea.

Ian and I went trick or treating with a couple of friends while Daddy and Aaron stayed home to hand out candy. Ian and I came back and got in on the tail end of handing out candy. I just had to take a picture of Ian wearing the pink tights. hee hee. Good blackmail photo to show his girlfriends! :)

Simplicity Portrait Challenge

I took this photo last week of one of my friend's daughter during a mini fall photo session that I did with my play group. This one was one of my favorites.

Fall Photos

I've been trying to really get a lot of portrait practice and so what better way than to take photos of your friends' kids. So I set up a little fall photo shoot in my backyard and went to town over the course of one evening and the next morning. The kids were great! Really it couldn't have gone better considering the age range was 5.5 years down to 2.5 weeks. I learned a lot about myself as well as tried to work on my skills getting their attention. All in all I am happy with the results.
