Wishing and Hoping, but Mostly Praying

I got an email last night from Bill. He said that they had been successful in completing their work, but that they were having a hard time finding a way out of there. Typical of a war zone, I suppose. Anyway, he knew they would be delayed in getting out of there and I am just praying that he and his 3 traveling companions can find a safe way to return home very soon.

Please pray for safe traveling mercies for Bill and the others. Thanks.

Glad I'm Good at Orientation Directions!

I'm a mall shopper. It's a known fact. I love malls. I love to shop! You don't have to ask me twice if I want to go shopping if there is decent shopping to be had. Killeen has put quite a damper on the shopper in me. There really isn't too much to be had. So with Bill gone and in the spirit of keeping busy, I decided to find "THE MALL!" Good Grief! Google Maps sure knows how to get you there, but neglects to tell you minor details like 1) there are multiple exits with the same street name on them 2) most of the highways go in a big circle and intersect each other in multiple places. ETC ETC. But the mall was THERE! I knew it was! I just had to find it! So SOUTH SOUTH SOUTH I drove! And low and behold, there it was!

I didn't buy much. I actually paid 5 bucks for Ian to join a club there and got more out of the coupons that they gave me than the 5 bucks I invested. I also bought the boys a spring outfit. Other than that, I just basked in the glow of a real mall!

Green Party!

Today we hosted our playgroup and had a "Green" party. I'm not talking ecofriendly, but it was GREEN! Lots and lots of green foods: green grapes, green apples, green peppers, broccoli, celery, cucumbers, pickles, salad, green M&Ms, chocolate cake with green buttercream icing, green dyed yellow cake with green frosting, sugar cookies with green frosting and drinks. We also had chicken nuggets. Our dips were multicolored so they broke up the green color scheme!

Ian had a ball playing with the kids, especially a little boy named Tommy. They got out almost all of the toys and ate lunch and did a sticker craft. Aaron had a good time, too. He was passed around when he wasn't playing on the floor.

It was a great day and we were so glad to have the company since Bill is gone this week. Hopefully we can do it again soon!

Hey Honey, Look Who It Is! Your Butt is Calling!

Have you seen this commerical?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09Fs8cbV8lM

Seriously, these phones are terrible about doing this. My husband has one. My husband is traveling to Afghanistan. The phone rings this morning at 10am. It's his cell phone number. My heart stops! I wasn't expecting a call today. Guess what? It's a butt call! Yup! Bill's butt called from Kuwait. Ian is confused because I am yelling in the phone hoping that he'll hear me. I am not sure why I thought I would be able to be heard from a cell phone in a pocket over the din of an airport and obviously, No dice! And at $2.49 cents per minute in Kuwait and $3.99 per minute in Afghanistan, I think I'll be investing in that Blackberry Flip phone.

I did call him back. He didn't answer, but he called a few minutes later. He had no idea that his butt had called. He didn't know the rates and at the time I hadn't looked them up, but he has been warned to stop "butt dialing." Butt dialing is not to be confused with "booty call!" Totally different! But he's not allowed to do that either!

Pancakes, Pancakes for Everyone!

Bill is getting ready to leave on a 10 day TDY to the Middle East so he's home today preparing and spending a little time with us before he goes. He got up this morning and made the boys and me some chocolate chip pancakes and bacon for breakfast! *wub* Aaron has been feeding himself finger foods so he got his first taste of pancake and it was a big hit! Ian always loves pancakes, but how can you go wrong when chocolate chips are involved?
