Who Stole Scooby's Cupcakes?

My friend Katie hosted this really cute playdate at the splashpark on Monday. She made a picture scavenger hunt for the kids and it was great! They loved it. When we arrived, we all made Adventure hats with stickers. Then she gave them each a magnifying glass and a pocket notebook and showed them their first clue. The kids really got into it. So cute! They had about 10 clues to find and then came back to figure out that Katie's dog had hidden the cupcakes in the trunk of her car so we all enjoyed them and some juice! What fun!

Rainbow Party

Today was our playgroup's 2nd anniversary so we celebrated with a rainbow themed birthday party. I made those rainbow cookie pops and a rainbow cake and had a magic rainbow drink station. The cake was 6 layers with each layer being a different color of the rainbow. It was frosted in white vanilla frosting and then I used Skittles to make a rainbow on top and of course, marshmallows for clouds! The drink station was a huge hit with the kids! I found the KoolAid that is flavored but clear and made a couple of gallons of it. I then split it into my clear pitchers and used food coloring to dye them the primary colors- red, yellow and blue. The kids had a great time mixing their drinks to be their favorite colors. I made a lot of purple! But there were requests for green, orange, red, yellow, blue and a few mixed them all!! Fun!

Our friends also helped by bringing snack foods in the colors of the rainbow: strawberries, watermelon, Tang, bananas, pineapple, green Fruit roll ups, blue tortilla chips, and purple jelly on pb&j sandwiches. We also had rainbow goldfish crackers, figs, and any number of other things that I am sure I am forgetting.

We strung Froot Loops on string to make necklaces, had a pinata, and a bunch of little goodie bag treats including bubbles and sunglasses. All the kids also had leis if they wanted them.

I am exhausted from the heat and carrying all of the party stuff and setting it up, but it was worth it! The kids had a blast!

Bugs and Blooms and Cup O' Worms!

Today we hosted a playdate at the park. The kids all came and potted a flower for their mommy and then took a bug catcher and went on a bug hunt. My friend Crystal generously brought our snack and helped the kids make a dirt pudding with worms! The kids had a ball. They especially loved the plastic bugs that we had to put in their bug catchers! I think the moms liked the flowers the most. :)

Little Chefs

Today we hosted a playdate and called it Little Chefs. The kids thought it was a hoot. They had aprons and chefs hats to wear and then helped to assemble their own lunch as well as their mom's lunch. We made spaghetti pies. Once we got them ready, we put them in the oven and made chocolate dippers to have for dessert. The kids really enjoyed both activities and got to then eat the fruits of their labor.

Stick With Us!

We hosted a playdate today. It was a sticker playdate. I premade sticker books by taking 2 foam sheets and stapling them together with cardstock pages in between. I added foam letters to personalize them and Voila! instant, cute, easy and cheap sticker books. The kids went to town. Everyone brought stickers to share and trade and we had a ball sticking our stickers in our books.

Mad Hatter Tea Party

Today we went to a Mad Hatter Tea Party playdate at one of our friend's house. Yes, I took my boys to a tea party. No I am not embarrassed nor do I think tea parties are entirely girly. I think it's important for my boys to play with girls and learn how to be respectful of them and to also learn to use their manners. What better place to learn these things than at a tea party. The hostess made paper lanterns and set the table with real tea cups. The kids were all very well behaved and were careful with them and I am happy to report that we had no breaks or spills. Lunch was a lovely array of tea sized peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the kids and chicken salad for the adults. There was fruit and also veggies and dip. YUM. Tea was really apple juice in the cups and for dessert there were chocolate cupcakes! YUM The kids had a great time and enjoyed playing together afterwards.
