Today we hosted a playdate and called it Little Chefs. The kids thought it was a hoot. They had aprons and chefs hats to wear and then helped to assemble their own lunch as well as their mom's lunch. We made spaghetti pies. Once we got them ready, we put them in the oven and made chocolate dippers to have for dessert. The kids really enjoyed both activities and got to then eat the fruits of their labor.

That is SO cool! I want to hear more about this spaghetti pie!
ReplyDeleteOh it was really an assembly of a "spaghetti casserole" of sorts. I had cards written out with how much of each ingredient needed to be for that layer. Each child had a set of measuring cups and spoons to use to measure each (precooked) ingredient. Then we put them in the oven to melt the cheese and warm them up throughout. I essentially had noodles, meat, sauce, mozzarella, parmesian, cottage cheese and italian seasoning. It was all just layered and then heated. Each kid made 2. Then while they were in the oven, we made chocolate dippers with various fruits, cookies and crackers, marshmallows, etc. We melted chocolate chips and a vanilla candy kit and made 2 kinds. Then we put them in the fridge to set up while we feasted on our spaghetti. It worked out as perfect timing.
ReplyDeleteOnce again a great idea, course I have already posted that I love these ideas!!
