On the way home from Houston, we stopped in Brenham, TX and took a short tour of the Blue Bell Creameries where they make the yummy icecream that we can find at our local supermarket. The kids all got a paper hat and Ian thought that was pretty fun. We were then showed a short movie about the history of the Blue Bell company and then went to see where they make and package the icecream. We were able to see 3 different rooms with several different lines running. It was pretty fascinating. Blue Bell only operates Monday through Friday 5am to 4pm so they aren't open for tours on the weekends, but if you are ever in the area it's certainly worth a stop if it's a weekday. The price was super reasonable (5 dollars for adults, 3 dollars for kids/students, and under 6 was FREE.) And the best part was that you got a scoop of icecream of any flavor they had in the case included in the price! YUM!!
How fun!! I know my boys really enjoyed going through the Tillamook cheese factory... different, but similar. Plus, there was ice cream at the end. <3
